FENTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The first recorded effort to organize the alumni of Fenton High School occurred on July 6, 1877, when the FIRST ANNUAL ALUMNI DINNER was held in the Colwell Hall. The association's first President was Henry S. Bangs of the Class of 1874. Since then the Alumni of Fenton High School have come together for meetings and dinners throughout the history of the school.

In the late 1930's, especially after the construction of the Fenton Community Center in 1938, the graduates of Fenton High School living in the Fenton area, joined together to form an association of alumni and former students for the purpose of organizing and conducting an all-school, all-class reunion.

However, it was not until November 2, 1983 that the Fenton High School Alumni Association was incorporated. At that time the primary mission of the association continued to be organizing reunions. Since that time the association has sponsored an All Class-All School Reunion Banquet every third year. An exception was made to the three year spacing for the last reunion in order to hold it in the year 2000. Over 450 graduates and former students attended the 2000 Reunion.

The mission of the association has expanded in recent years to include: (1) Awarding of Scholarships to selected graduating Seniors of FHS; (2) Establishment of a Hall of Fame honoring FHS alumni that have had distinguishing careers in various fields of endeavor; (3) Establishment of a FHS Alumni Foundation (4) Establishment and maintenance of a database containing the name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, employment and family information and (5) Providing mailing lists to all classes in support of individual class reunion efforts. For more information about one or all the missions, return to the home page and make your selection.

The association is looking to expand its mission to provide constructive support to Fenton High School and its students, past and present For example, the publication of a newsletter for distribution via US mail and/or email is under development. The web page at fentonalumni.org will be improved as well as updated on a regular basis

The annual meeting of the association is held on the first Monday of the month in November of each year. At that time the officers and trustees are elected for a one year term. The officers and trustees elected in November, 2007 and presently serving are:

Membership Dues:  None…however graduates, former students and friends are asked to contribute $15 for a three-year membership. These funds are needed to "keep the flame burning" for the association and to provide start up funds for reunions and other projects. As an example of the need for "Start-up" funds consider that prior to receiving any money from ticket sales, the association mails over 8,000 first class letters announcing the reunion. This is only one of the many expenses that the association incurs during a Reunion year and for other major projects. Most recent project is the preparation of an “Alumni Park”, the new location of our “old” Rock.  Your generous help is always appreciated.

The mailing address for the association is:
