FENTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION REUNIONS

The last All-School All Class Alumni Reunion was held on Friday, July 3rd, 2009, at the time of the celebration of the 175th Anniversary of the founding of the Village of Fenton festivities and as part of the Freedom Festival on July 4th.

A survey revealed that holding the reunion on the Fourth of July weekend did not improve attendance and we needed to select a date which is more acceptable to the majority of our former classmates.

Consequently, the planners for next reunion have tentatively selected two dates in early August, 2011, Several locations, other than the school facilities are under consideration for the location of the reunion.

A “Hospitality Room” in which school and class memorabilia is on display will be open to all alumni and friends. Ken Seger ‘54, Director of the Fenton Museum will prepare the displays.

The Steering Committee will be working with limited funds, consequently, the collection of membership dues and other gifts are very important to meet the association’s operational expenses.

If you are considering making a donation to the Association, please consider giving an “Unrestricted” gift to provide the monies required to “keep the flame burning” from year to year. While our expenses are minimal between the Triennial Reunions, there are some costs incurred in maintaining our website and database and just doing ordinary business. Small contributions are very much appreciated!

Send your “unrestricted” donations to the FHSAA, Box 961, Fenton, MI 48430. Money donated for the purpose of providing Scholarships is invested and no part of the fund is available for other Association expenses. See Section on FHSAA SCHOLARSHIPS.

Several classes hold their individual Class Reunions in conjunction with the All School, All Class Triennial Reunion. Other classes scheduled reunion dates completely removed from the “Big” reunion. The Association is requesting that when considering and planning an individual class reunion, the organizers seriously consider the advantages of scheduling their event in conjunction with the All-School reunion. This arrangement allows those attending the opportunity to not only renew friendships with their classmates, but also visit with others from the classes who were in high school at the same time. The follow-up survey clearly indicated that the alumni prefer to attend their own class reunion, but would attend the all-class, all-school reunion if the class reunion was scheduled together.

Regardless of whether you hold your class reunion with the all-school, all-class reunion, PLEASE provide the details to the association for posting on this website. If you are aware of other reunions, which are not listed, please provide us the information so they may also be included in the list.
