It is 50 years since the Class of 1954 graduated from Fenton High School. Thirty-six classmates, including those from California, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio and Canada gathered for their 50th reunion on May 22.

Dave and Sandy Warren hosted the gathering at their Byron home. Classmates reminisced, renewed friendships and enjoyed more than 50 years of treasured memories. Some attended all 12 years of school together at the present Fenton Intermediate School (FIS) building on Adelaide Street and have enjoyed friendships that began in kindergarten at the age of five.

Fenton Tiger Paws cakes say it all for FHS Class of ‘54This senior class was the first affected by overcrowding when Lake Fenton area students were no longer being accepted on a tuition basis. Consolidation efforts had failed and 15 members of the 1954 senior class, all living at Lake Fenton, were bused to attend 12th grade and graduated from Mandeville High School (now Carman-Ainsworth).

Despite being separated for the final year of high school, many friendships have continued. Reunion committee members were from both graduating classes, as were those attending.

A memorial board paid tribute to 21 deceased class members. Ed "Red" Moore, whose funeral was held in Ohio on May 15, was the latest. His wife, Freda Moore, attended.
